Niamh Leonard

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Niamh is a lawyer by profession and a systems thinker at heart with a passion for good governance and human rights advocacy. She is the Executive Director of Transparency International Canada and is doing an MSc in International Human Rights Law at Oxford University.

She previously articled at Trudel Johnston & Lespérance, where she worked on a range of civil litigation matters related to human rights violations. Prior to that, she was a program officer at the McConnell Foundation, where she managed grants to climate change, social innovation, and Indigenous organizations. For her commitment to equality, Niamh was awarded the Justice Rosalie Silberman Abella Prize by the Royal Society of Canada.

Niamh, avocate de profession, est animée d’une passion pour la bonne gouvernance et la défense des droits de la personne. Elle est la directrice générale de Transparency International Canada et fait un MSc en droit international en matière des droits de la personne à l’Université d’Oxford.

Elle a auparavant travaillé comme stagiaire de barreau chez Trudel Johnston & Lespérance sur divers litiges civils liés à des violations des droits de la personne. Avant cela, elle était chargée de programme à la Fondation McConnell, où elle gérait des subventions destinées à des organisations œuvrant dans les domaines des changements climatiques, de l'innovation sociale et de la réconciliation avec les peuples autochtones. Son engagement en faveur de l’égalité lui a valu le prix Justice Rosalie Silberman Abella de la Société royale du Canada.

Program Assistant

Angelica is the project assistant for TI Canada, she's currently finishing her doctorate. Angelica is passionate about finding creative solutions to problems, and comes with a diverse background in the corporate and non-profit sector. Prior to pursuing her doctorate, Angelica did a Masters in International Relations and worked in business valuation and international trade.
